Kids Adoption: Quantity Matters

Unfortunately, this world is full of unfairness, and the worst one is probably that of the neglected kids. Life in the asylum is unenviable, but poor kids just can’t help it. Many of them are doomed on living there till their coming of age, and their further life is a Russian roulette. Being adopted is the only thing these kids dream of, but this luck will come only to the elected few. Fortunately, sometimes you can meet people whose kindness doesn’t make difference between adopted kids and their own ones.

Heidi Baker

This woman is also known as Mama Heidi and famous for adopting about 500 (!) kids in Mozambique. She and her husband came to Mozambique back in 1995 to build an orphanage. The Bakers are very religious people and they believe that they have no rights to refuse to any neglected child. The story of each and every kid is a tragedy, each one has either lost a parent or was abused, or suffered from malnutrition or disease. Needless to say, taking care of 500 kids is a hectic task, but Heidi succeeds every day thanks for her courage and faith.

Brian and Annie Laurie

This family from Missouri has 5 kids of their own and 15 adopted ones. 20 in total. They confess that the adoption processes took them tons of money and headache, but each kid is worth it.

Recently, celeb adoptions became very popular. More and more celebrities opt for adoptions even if they have their own children. Thus, they save those little lives from the cold of the asylums and give them hope for the better future.

Mia Farrow

Although nowadays many celebs adopt kids from the 3d world countries, Mia was a pioneer. Actress and Woody Allen’s ex-wile had managed to adopt 11 kids, most of them came from Vietnam and Korea. Unfortunately, her example can’t be called a success. The point is one of the adopted daughters – a Korean girl named Soon Yi – has destroyed Mia’s marriage by having an affair with her husband Woody Allen.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

This celebrity couple needs no introduction. The first kid, a Cambodian boy named Maddox, was adopted by Angelina long before her marriage with Pitt. She had found a 1-year-old boy in the asylum for refugees while shooting in Beyond Borders. Angelina’s 2nd child’s destiny really shocks. Little Zahara’s mom has died of AIDS, and Zahara was about to die of malnutrition and dehydration. Angelina healed and adopted her, and after a while started thinking about the 3d kid. It was Pax, a 7-year-old boy from Vietnam.

This legendary woman adopted 2 kids from Malawi – Mercy James and David Banda. Both kids are not pure orphans: their mothers are dead, but both have other relatives, who are, unfortunately, too poor to take care of these kids.

Nicole Kidman

She was a happy mother of 2 adopted kids, Isabella and Connor. Unfortunately, after the divorce with Tom Cruise, the kids decided to stay with him.

  1. My brother was adopted. I have five sisters, so mum wanted another boy. We grew up together and he was just as much a part of our family as I was. He passed away a few years back.

It never ceased to amaze me how, he was my brother in every sense, but he also could have been a complete stranger.

Does that mean that anyone could be my brother or sister? Or do we have to have that life long, growing up together and knowing each other so well, to be considered family?
